The new knowledge revealed within VF-KDO can only be gained from real industrial application studies. That is why the seven industrial partners play a key role. The aims and goals of the project come from extended discussions.

While many research efforts related to Industry 4.0 are focused on the cyber-physical system issues, it is VF-KDO’s view that it has to be looked at from three dimensions. Connectivity, Virtualization and Optimization/Data Sciences and that these have to be addressed within an integrated, coherent framework, to realize the ultimate smart factory.
